Requirement gathering was done using contextual inquiries, questionnaires, and mockup scenarios, requirements from researchers and tissue bank staff at 4 early adopter sites across the country.

The Requirements Analysis document included use cases and workflow charts for each site. This helped in identifying common workflows that further guided the system design.

UI wireframes, UX storyboards and sequence diagrams used or designing and documenting the user interface.

caTIES features a unique query modelling UI that lets non-technical medical staff generate complex boolean and temporal queries like "Get me all patients who had a breast biopsy with intra-hepithelial hyperplasia, followed by a mastectomy within 3 years of the inital breast biopsy".

Searchable JTree Widget

This is a small widget I developed that adds search support to a JTree.

Features

  • Works with any pre-loaded JTree
  • Installs easily in one line of code : SearchableJTree.makeSearchable(JTree tree);
  • Pops up when user types a key when the JTree has focus. Hides away when user presses ESC or ENTER
  • iTunes like search UI. Search results are updated in realtime as user types each character.
  • Positioning, transparency and color schemes for the UI are customizable.

I also wrote a small program to demonstrate the widget and its various features.
